Chinese Herbs Contraindicated In Pregnancy

Contraindicated Herbs During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, herbs generally should not be used during the first trimester except to prevent miscarriage, minimize morning sickness or to treat a condition in the mother which would endanger her or the fetus.

The herbs in the following category should not be used at any time during pregnancy or when pregnancy is even a possibility, with the exception of those used to induce labor at the very end.   In formulas, a professional can legitimately use some of them as a minor part of a formula, especially if they have been processed by Chinese or Ayurvedic processes.  But do not take them except under expert supervision.
